"Tarzan's Magic Fountain" is an animated adventure movie from 1949 that extends the iconic tale of Tarzan, the legendary jungle hero. This film invites audiences into a magical realm that blends comedy and fantasy with the spirit of adventure that the Tarzan saga is famous for. As an animated and dubbed movie, it holds a special place in the history of cinema adaptations of Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic character.

About the Movie

"Tarzan's Magic Fountain" is an adventurous and whimsical animated feature that follows Tarzan as he encounters mystical elements hidden deep within the jungle. The story introduces viewers to a secret fountain with extraordinary properties, adding a magical twist to the usual Tarzan narrative. This fountain is central to the plot as Tarzan and his companions seek to protect it from those who wish to exploit its powers for selfish means.

The film cleverly combines elements of comedy and fantasy, making it appealing not only to children but also to adults seeking light-hearted entertainment. The adventure unfolds with peril and excitement that keeps the audience engaged, while the animation style reflects the period’s charm and the artistic interpretations of jungle life.

Main Actors

The voice cast prominently features Lex Barker and Brenda Joyce, who lent their talents to bring authenticity and charisma to the characters. Lex Barker was well-known for his portrayal of Tarzan in several movies during the late 1940s and early 1950s. His strong yet approachable voice gave life to Tarzan’s heroic persona. Brenda Joyce, notable for playing Jane in multiple Tarzan films, provided the voice for Jane, giving a warm and spirited presence to the character.

Director and Writer

While there are limited detailed records of the director and the writers of "Tarzan's Magic Fountain," the movie is a part of the animated Tarzan productions that drew upon the original stories by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The adaptation, infused with fantasy elements, likely involved a team experienced in both animation and the Tarzan series, maintaining the consistency of Tarzan’s jungle world while expanding its magic and mystery.

The movie being an animation with dubbing suggests that it was aimed at a broader international audience, keeping Tarzan's global appeal alive. The exact credits may vary by version, but the presence of Lex Barker and Brenda Joyce strongly connects the film to the live-action Tarzan legacy.

Animation and Genre

The film blends genres seamlessly - adventure, comedy, fantasy, and animation. The animated format adds a layer of creativity that allows the depiction of the magic fountain and other fantastical elements in a vibrant and imaginative way. The comedic elements lighten the mood, making the dangerous jungle quest fun and entertaining. The blend of these genres helps the movie to stand out from the typical Tarzan films of that era, which were mostly live-action and more straightforward adventure fare.

Legacy and Impact

While "Tarzan's Magic Fountain" might not be as widely known today as some of the classic live-action Tarzan movies, it represents an important part of Tarzan’s rich history in cinema as one of the animated entries. It showcases the versatility of the Tarzan story and its ability to adapt to various formats and audiences. For fans of the franchise and animation enthusiasts, this film offers a nostalgic and charming exploration of the jungle hero’s adventures with an enchanting twist.

In conclusion, "Tarzan's Magic Fountain" (1949) is a delightful animated venture that brings together the legendary characters, a magical storyline, and a cheerful tone.
