Coming from a conservative Telugu-speaking family, Anupama Nayyar, is in love with Rahul, both become intimate, and she becomes pregnant. When Rahul finds out he asks her to abort the baby as its’ birth interferes with his plans of re-locating to the U.S.. The duo break-up, Anupama informs her parents and sister, Amruta, that she intends to keep the baby. Unable to bear the criticism from her disapproving family, she re-locates to live with her friend, Raina, in Mumbai, starts to hear voices from her baby, Sammy, and converses with it without knowing its’ gender. She finds employment – but faces many challenges when her co-workers, boss, and others, including Professor Dhruv Shah, question her pregnancy and inquire about the biological father of the child.
