Plot Summary
The film centers around Karan Shergill (played by Hrithik Roshan), a young man who is aimless and directionless in life. From a wealthy family in Delhi, Karan lacks motivation and spends his days without a clear goal or ambition. His life takes a dramatic turn when the 1999 Kargil War between India and Pakistan forces him to grow up and find his true purpose.
Initially reluctant, Karan joins the Indian Army, embarking on a journey that challenges his courage, perseverance, and commitment. Through rigorous training and battlefield experiences, he transforms from a carefree individual into a disciplined soldier with a firm resolve. Along the way, he also navigates a complex romantic relationship with Romila Dutta (played by Preity Zinta), a documentary filmmaker whose passion and determination inspire him further.
The film captures not only the personal transformation of Karan but also vividly portrays the harsh realities of war, the camaraderie among soldiers, and the spirit of patriotism.
