Both being national security agencies, the CIA and CONTROL have a sometimes friendly, sometimes not so friendly rivalry. CONTROL may now have the upper hand in the rivalry when Bruce and Lloyd, two of their nerdish inventors working in the gadgets laboratory, are close to perfecting their optical camouflage technology (OCT), aka an invisibility cloak. This is much to the chagrin of their counterparts at the CIA, Bob and Howard. The more personal rivalry between Bruce/Lloyd and Bob/Howard is fostered by their respective bosses, who happen to be competitive twin brothers. Bruce and Lloyd may be in deep trouble when their only prototype of the OCT goes missing. They initially believe that Bob and Howard may have it or worse that it has fallen into the hands on CONTROL’s arch enemy, KAOS. But they discover that it was stolen by a beautiful woman named Isabella, working for her country, Maraguay. Bruce and Lloyd, with Bruce’s girlfriend and fellow CONTROL technology geek Nina at their side, go on a mission to retrieve the OCT back from the Maraguayan government, who they learn has ties to KAOS. But they also learn that Bob and Howard are also trying to retrieve the OCT for the CIA’s glory, and that Isabella is working on her own personal agenda.

Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control (2008) is a lively and entertaining action-comedy film that serves as a spin-off to the popular 2008 movie Get Smart. This Hindi dubbed version brings the adventures of two of the most beloved and quirky characters from the original film to a wider audience, combining elements of action, comedy, and sci-fi to create a fun escapade for viewers of all ages.

What is this movie about?

This film centers around Bruce and Lloyd, the tech-savvy but socially awkward gadget experts from the secret organization CONTROL. Unlike the main agents who often take center stage, Bruce and Lloyd usually work behind the scenes, creating inventive gadgets and high-tech contraptions to assist agents in the field. However, in Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control, these two take the spotlight and head out on their own mission.

The story kicks off when Bruce and Lloyd's invention, a cutting-edge surveillance tool, accidentally falls into the wrong hands. This mishap triggers a high-stakes adventure as the duo attempts to retrieve their device and prevent it from being used for nefarious purposes. Their journey is filled with comedic mishaps, high-tech escapades, and moments of self-discovery as they step out of the shadows and prove their worth beyond the lab.

The plot skillfully combines elements of action and sci-fi, with plenty of humorous situations that showcase the chemistry between the characters. It’s a film that celebrates the underdog spirit and highlights themes of friendship, courage, and ingenuity.

Main Actors

  • Masi Oka as Bruce: Known for his role in popular TV shows and his real-life tech expertise, Masi Oka brings a charming nerdiness and heartfelt enthusiasm to the character of Bruce, the gadget genius.
  • Nate Torrence as Lloyd: Playing Bruce’s partner and fellow tech whiz, Nate Torrence delivers a hilarious and endearing performance as Lloyd, adding an energetic and often goofy dimension that complements Bruce’s personality perfectly.
  • Jayma Mays: Appearing in a supporting role, Jayma Mays provides additional comic relief and depth to the narrative through her engaging performance.
  • Marika Dominczyk: Another notable supporting actor, Marika adds charm and intrigue to the storyline with her performance.

Director

The film is directed by Gil Junger, who is well-regarded for his work in the comedy genre, including the cult classic 10 Things I Hate About You. Junger's expertise in balancing humor with engaging storytelling shines through in Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control, making the movie a delightful and lighthearted watch.

Writers

The screenplay is penned by Tom J. Astle and Matt Ember, both talented writers known for their work in comedy and action genres. Their writing effectively captures the spirit of the characters and enhances the comedic and adventurous tone of the film, creating witty dialogues and clever scenarios that keep the audience engaged throughout.

Music and Songs

Being a Hindi dubbed movie primarily targeted at audiences familiar with Bollywood influences, the film incorporates a background score that complements its vibrant and fast-paced narrative. However, unlike standard Bollywood productions, Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control does not feature traditional song and dance sequences. Instead, the soundtrack focuses on supporting the action and comedic moments, using energetic and sometimes futuristic sounds fitting for the sci-fi elements of the movie.

Genre and Appeal

Mixing action, comedy, sci-fi, and the charm of dubbed movies, this film caters to fans who enjoy a blend of light-hearted espionage and gadget-filled adventures. The humor is largely situational and character-driven, making it accessible to a broad audience. The sci-fi gadgets and imaginative technology featured provide an extra layer of excitement and visual appeal, keeping fans of the genre thoroughly entertained.

Conclusion

Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control (2008) is a fun-filled spin-off that successfully captures the quirky spirit of its lead characters. It provides a fresh and engaging perspective on the Get Smart universe, perfect for those who appreciate a mix of comedy, stylish action, and sci-fi elements.
