Directed by Prabhu Deva, who is renowned for his choreography and directorial ventures in the Tamil film industry, the movie showcases a mixture of thrilling action sequences, comedic relief, and emotionally charged moments that keep viewers hooked throughout.

Plot Summary

The heart of Villu revolves around the protagonist, played by the charismatic Joseph Vijay (popularly known as Vijay), who embarks on a mission to avenge his father's death. The story follows his journey as he assumes a clever disguise and infiltrates the world of his enemies to bring justice. The narrative weaves action-packed scenes with lighthearted comedy, resulting in an entertaining blend that appeals to a broad audience.

Vijay's character, with his wit and determination, confronts the antagonists led by a powerful figure portrayed by the seasoned actor Prakash Raj. Alongside the male lead, Nayanthara plays the female lead, bringing depth and charm to the story. Her character adds emotional layers and romantic intrigue to the otherwise high-octane plot.

Music and Songs

One of the defining features of Villu is its vibrant soundtrack composed by the legendary A. R. Rahman. His music beautifully complements the film’s mood, ranging from high-energy dance numbers to emotional melodies that help deepen the audience's connection to the characters.

The film features several memorable songs, each rendered by some of the most acclaimed playback singers in the Indian music industry. Notable tracks include:

  • "Aathichudi" - Sung by Hariharan and Sadhana Sargam; an upbeat and catchy number that became popular for its energetic beats.
  • "Villu Theme" - A powerful instrumental piece underscoring the film’s action sequences.
  • "Deepavali" - Sung by Vijay himself, showcasing his versatility and endearing presence as both an actor and a singer.
  • "Moodalai Vaathil" - A romantic duet that highlights the chemistry between the lead characters, sung by Hariharan and Sadhana Sargam.
