Vijay (Shatrughan Sinha) and Anand (Rajesh Khanna) are two friends who are brought up by their mom (Dina Pathak). Anand is an orphan who was adopted by the family as a child and he has never been given the impression that he was an outsider. Both work for the same organization & love the same woman, Asha (Jaya Pradha). But Asha has already given her heart to Anand. One night while giving his secretary, Sheela (Smita Patil), a widow, ride home, Vijay has sexual intercourse with her, and she gets pregnant, but refrains from telling Vijay. Vijay wants to marry Asha, and when Anand finds this out, quietly leaves their lives, making them believe that he is the father of Sheela’s child. But will Asha marry Vijay?
